MOBILE APP

TAB Race Feed

Tabcorp is the largest provider of wagering and gaming products and services in Australia. Their main app is TAB.

The primary objective of this project was to enhance the data consumption experience for existing users, enabling them to gain deeper insights into race information, thereby improving their ability to make informed betting decisions.

As a member of Aura design team, I actively contributed as a UX/UI Designer throughout the entire design and development process.

The Problem

In the current app, users encounter challenges in accessing up-to-date TAB data for a specific race meet (location) at one place. The information is scattered across various sections on the app, including both the homepage and the race page, making it hard to locate.

The brand-new racing experience consolidates all racing-related content into a single, user-friendly hub known as 'The Race Feed'. This innovative feature enables seamless access to transaction-driving content with just a simple tap, whether you're exploring race meets or individual race pages. It grants you entry to a wide range of resources, such as Previews, Track insights, Tips, Runner Rankings, Analysis, Bets Friends' sharing, and the latest Popular Bets which includes trending options like Trifectas, Quaddies, and First 4s.

  • Track module to give users key information such as the track condition, weather and rail position.

  • Runner Ranking module gives users a quick way to sort runners based on key categories such Recent Form, Time and Sky Rating.

  • Popular Bets modules (Trifecta, Quinella, Exacta) which are favored by many, provide users with information about the most commonly wagered odds by fellow bettors.

USER JOURNEY

MODULES' EDGE CASE SCENARIOS

The world of racing and racing betting is a highly intricate industry, marked by significant distinctions among Horse, Harness, and Greyhound racing. To engage developers in building for this domain, it is crucial to take into account various edge cases, including:

  • diverse race tracks

  • fluctuating weather conditions

  • instances where certain design elements are unavailable

  • where odds are not accessible.

Reflections

Throughout my involvement in this project, I have gained valuable insights and skills, including:

  • Finding equilibrium between our capabilities and client expectations.

  • Designing and collaborating closely with developers and quality assurance testing for all edge case scenarios in each module.

  • Hosting design feedback sessions.

  • Building strong and effective working relationship with client's design team.
